James F. Donaldson (1953-2017) a.k.a. “The Schilke Loyalist”  used to run a Schilke Loyalist website housed on Dallasmusic.org.

Many trumpeters, myself included, miss Jim and his website. Thus, I have tried to recreate his website from what is stored at web.archive.org to provide a safe permanent haven for Jim’s work. By using a modern (wordpress) interface, all the material is searchable within the site…

I never met Jim, but corresponded regularly with him since the mid 1990s by e-mail, and through rec.music.makers.trumpet, TPIN and Facebook… He always gave excellent answers to all my questions about Schilke horns, including great advice when I purchased my first Schilke trumpet (a B1, his favourite).

Today, I play a Schilke B5, XA1, P5-4 and the flugelhorn, and Schilke mouthpieces… And consider myself too, to be a Schilke Loyalist… Finer horns are not to be found…

If anybody believes that copying Jim’s site is improper or that copyright is infringed, please feel free to tell me… This website is offered non-commercially in the memory of a friend…

Jim’s Gearhead site is also included at this site; at the moment not in the menu, but the pages will pop-up when you use the search feature…

Many of the links Jim provided are (probably) not working today… Or will get you to web.archive.org… I will work on this in the coming weeks and months (including the images referred to)…

The official Schilke site is here…
